UNIQUE COUNCIL OF EUROPE PROJECT ON THE PARTICIPATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has launched a two-year project „CP4Europe – Strengthening National Child Participation Frameworks and Action in Europe “, to support the participation of children and young people in policymaking at the national level.
Participation of the children in the decision-making processes is increasing its importance recently. Listening to the children´s and young adults´ opinions is seen as the key action for building their human dignity and the healthy development. This project is the next step to see the participation as a common part of every activity, not the exception.
Project is coordinated by the Council of Europe and funded by the European Union´s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014 – 2020). Finland, Slovenia, Portugal, Iceland, and the Czech Republic are collaborating countries. Project will be implemented from the 1st April 2021 until 31st March 2023.
The main aim of the project is to promote the child participation in EU, member countries of the Council of Europe and support the national activities in the field of children´s and young adults’ participation. Project promotes and increases the usage of the unique tool Child Participation Tool (CPAT), and the new Handbook on Children´s Participation at the national action.
Among the key expected results of the project are „the possibility for children to participate in individual decision-making processes“, „Increased awareness and political willingness of decision makers“, „training for professionals to implement child participation in their working life“, and „recommendations for legislative and policy changes“. Due to the project „the European platform and network for the children´s and youths´ participation“ will be created in order to share the examples of good practice.
